The Magic Ingrained in Goodnight and Goodluck

There are some performances in Good Night, and Good Luck, that stay etched in your memory days after viewing the film. I thought the actor playing Joseph McCarthy exceeded the expectations of his role.

I thought this image helped portray the seriousness of his character. Watching him deviating on the archive material spliced throughout the film, it's hard to fathom why he was considered to be such a terrorizing figure. How shocking it is, this movie keeps reminding you, that there was a time in this country when politicians could get away with great intimidation by preying on others paranoia.

There's a lot that I loved about this classic film. Odly enough, I enjoy watching black and white films. The snazzy music in the film helped give me a feel for the setting of the 1950s. There were numerous performances to rant and rave about. The guy who consistantly ran his mouth about Communists, well he could've toned it down slightly.

What I've Learned Thus Far *

Well where shall I begin..
So far, there have been several things that have intrigued me by sparking my interest and providing me with new knowledge about early radio. It was because of the radio that a new door was opened, a new door for technology to evolve through. I find it fascinating to have learned that the television, an appliance that most modern American families can't seem, to live without, evolved from the radio. I've enjoyed reading Mr.Rorty's opinions. They've provided me with great insight about the evolution of TV.
Watching Woody Allen's Radio Days was a learning experience for me. Radio Days presents us with a typical Jewish family and shows us the way radio was woven into their daily lives. Joe became the ultimate "hero" of the movie. He was the youngest member of the family and a frequent radio listener. His life revolved around The Masked Adventurer. His passion for the show is such that to purchase a "Masked Adventurer Secret Compartment Ring" he steals money from a synagogue collection for the foundation of the Jewish State. Although his exposure as thief puts him off a life of crime, it never eliminates his profound interest in the radio. I believe Radio Days evokes the magic involved in the evolution of the radio. Through his film, Allen captures the mood of the times perfectly and even references real radio programs such as the Charlie McCarthy Show. The film additionally features a short story focusing on the events of the famous War Of The Worlds broadcast.
In these past few weeks, I’ve certainly learned quite a lot.

Old Television vs. New Television

Remember the Good Ole Days with I Love Lucy? Nowadays, Why is Everyone Craving to Watch Rock of Love?


Despite its dated references and old-fashioned family dynamics, I Love Lucy remains hilariously entertaining. Having interviewed my grandmother about favorite Television shows. She had a lot of positive things to say about I Love Lucy. Lucille Ball was one of the greatest comic actors of all time and so her physical comedy is timeless. Her antics in this pioneering show have made it one of the top sitcoms in TV history. If younger viewers can get past the black-and-white presentation, even the littlest kids will enjoy her goofy faces and silly mishaps. I Love Lucy was aimed at an adult audience but was humorous enough that kids watched it too. The show has experienced continuous reruns since the mid-fifties. Lucy was a master of physical comedy and a true clown in the best sense of the word.
Nowadays, reality TV has covered the screen, and shows such as Rock of Love have become a favorite. I don't watch this show, but my sister does. After he begging me to watch one episode I finally did. By watching this show you don't gain any knowledge, but you develop insight of the transformations society has undergone. The reality show follows on the heels of the inexplicable trainwreck that was Flavor of Love( another show my sister enjoys watching) in which aging rapper Flavor Flav auditioned a similar number of unique individuals for the role of his Number One Lady.
As painful as that series could be to watch, it too garnered thousands of viewers, and Rock of Love seems poised to surpass its predecessor in the annals of pop culture. To be bluntly honest, Rock of Love Once just seems to be filled with booze, boobs, hairspray and lots of eyeliner. The object of the show is for the contestants to win over Michaels' heart. Even if it means they perform uncomfortable, if not humiliating, tasks, ranging from dirty talking on the phone while the other roommates listen to motocross racing. Does this sound pointless or what? Unfortunately, society has come to enjoy these shows. Perhaps this is why society is so corrupt.

I remember when I was merely five years old, when my family and I savored our summer days in Maine, sitting outside our beachfront home. As I've gotten older, I've had the opportunity to go on seven cruises, where I've been able to see various tropical islands such as: Aruba, Barbados, Jamaica, Dominica, The Dominican Republic, Honduras, the Bahamas, and so much more. My favorite family vacation was by far my cruise around Hawaii. Now that I'm 18, I'm I feel privileged to have seen so many extravagant places.
I remember sitting in my 3rd grade class; working on my travel project. I chose to do mine on Australia. From that moment on, Australia has become my dream destination. This year my mother and my grandmother surprised me by telling me they'd be taking me to Australia after my graduation.
I loved learning about Sydney’s spectacular harbor. It's so naturally beautiful. I'd love to see a performance of opera, ballet or theatre at the world famous Opera House. The Great Barrier Reef was breathtaking. It's so big it can be seen from space. It explodes with color that stretches for 2,600 kilometres off the Queensland coast. Home to 550 National Parks, Australia continues to fascinate me, I just can't wait to make my journey and see everything the Land Down Under has to offer.
